Festival Artists for Season 2010 - Dafnis Prieto Sextet
Dafnis Prieto Sextet
After having studied classical music in Cuba for 8 years, Dafnie Prieto discovered the Afro-Cuban rhythms teaching it today as a member of the NYU music faculty in NY where he has been residing since 1999.
Playing concurrently the drums and percussions he demonstrates rare virtuosity and endless rhythmic skills. He is also a fascinating composer.
He has been playing in many other ensembles with leading players such as Michel Camilo, Eddie Palmieri, Dave Samuels, Chucho Valdez, Don Byron and many others known also in Israel.
Dafnis Prieto is the most refreshing sound to come on New York today's jazz scene.
