Piano and Saxophone, older and younger, American and Israeli in a unique encounter – jazz pianist and composer Kenny Barron meets saxophone player Eli Degibri.
In 1962 nineteen years old Barron was hired to play with Dizzy Gillespie upon James Moody's recommendation without even hearing him play one note. Kenny Barron, pianist, composer and arranger owns a rare talent capturing audiences with his soulful intelligent and appealing rhythms. Inducted into the American Jazz Hall of Fame after earning nine Grammy nominations and many more prizes and credits, he collaborated with everybody who is somebody in the Jazz scene, including, Buddy Rich, Yousef Lateef, Ron Carter, Buster Williams, Ben Riley, Stan Getz, Stefon Harris and Ray Drummond.
Israeli, Eli Degibree only 32 years old with an impressive international career as an acclaimed saxophone player. He started playing at the age of ten and eight years later after moving to the United States he had the opportunity to play with many jazz legends such as Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Benny Goulson, Gimmy Heath and Clarck Terry. In 2002, he established a quintet with Kurt Rosenwukle, Aaron Goldberg, Ben Street and Jeff Balard and joined legendary jazz drummer Al Foster's quartet.
This vibrant show is full of surprises combining familiar standards and original compositions performed to perfection by this remarkable duo.
