The Israeli Big Band, Tel Aviv

Swingin' at the Savoy
A night with The Israeli Jazz Orchestra
Of the Israel Conservatory of Music Tel-Aviv

Music Director - Danny Rosenfeld

The New Israeli Jazz Orchestra is an exciting big band comprising Israel's leading young jazz musicians. The NIJO was founded by musician/educator Danny Rosenfeld in 2005, under the auspices of the Israel Conservatory of Music's Jazz Division.
The orchestra's mission is to promote the music of the golden era of the big bands, via the works of Chick Webb, Count Basie, and Jimmie Lunceford, as well as those of Bop pioneers Billy Eckstine and Dizzy Gillespie. Since its inception, the orchestra has performed at numerous festivals and venues across the country, alongside guest artist such as Joe Magnarelli and Joel Frahm.
The NIJO will make its Red Sea Jazz Festival debut with a new program, featuring the best of the Swing and Bop eras.
The aptly titled 'Swingin' at the Savoy', draws its inspiration from the famous Savoy Balroom in Harlem, a venue which, more than any other, symbolizes one of the greatest periods in American music.
The Orchestra, along with guest artists Jonathan Voltzok on Trombone, and Gil Sorin on vibraphone, will make for a very swingin' affair !
